Frequently Asked Questions
What is CoralFoam?
CoralFoam is a proven foaming technology developed in 1995 that enables precise control over where foaming occurs within a moulded part. Thin areas remain solid and potentially clear while thicker areas foam, delivering lighter components, improved performance, and enhanced visual appeal.
Applications have included cups, cutlery, coat hangers, bucket handle grips, and automotive dashboards and door panels—offering an optimal balance of strength, material efficiency, and aesthetics.
What is EcoCore?
EcoCore, developed in 2016, is a corrugated foaming structure designed to increase effective skin length within a moulded part. It delivers stronger foamed wall bands and improved structural performance in round containers. For larger formats, G4Foam offers superior scalability and stacking performance.
Can VCL supply EcoCore moulds?
EcoCore moulds are supplied exclusively by Bockatech.
How fast is G4Foam?
G4Foam is engineered for high-speed production. Cycle times depend on rib geometry and wall thickness, but sub-four-second cycle times are routinely achieved.
Can G4Foam be used on non-round containers?
Yes. G4Foam’s angled rib architecture can be applied to virtually any container shape, providing design freedom without compromising performance.
Can I build my own moulds?
No, as the knowledge is in the component and mould design, all moulds for G4Foam and Coralfoam can only be purchased exclusively from VCL.
