Requirements for Using G4Foam
Moulding Machines
Packaging-spec injection moulding machines equipped with barrier screws, screw stabilisation, and parallel function are essential for optimal performance.
-
Barrier screws for effective gas distribution in the melt
-
Stabilisation (back pressure hold on) to prevent screw drift caused by gas pressure in the barrel
-
Parallel function allowing very short cooling times, with the screw rotating during mould opening
Both packaging-spec hydraulic injection moulding machines and all-electric machines are compatible with these requirements.
Blowing-Agent Dosing
A dosing method for a chemical blowing agent (CBA)—whether in masterbatch or liquid form, or through a direct physical gas system—is essential. The MuCell system from Trexel is a recommended solution. A high-performance CBA is also available from VCL at a competitive price.
Product Design
All G4Foam products to be designed by VCL without exception. Designs cost from UK£2,000, depending on complexity. To be offset against a purchase order and deposit for a mould has been received.
Mould Design
Moulds must be specifically designed by VCL for G4Foam and CoralFoam.
Licensing
A free license to operate G4Foam is required from VCL. No license is required for CoralFoam applications.
